Why We Have a New Name

When our firm was founded, the founder and the firm were closely intertwined. Advice, responsibility, and public image were centered on him. It was therefore only natural to feature his name on the firm’s sign. RIEDIGER stood for the firm—and the firm stood for RIEDIGER.

Since then, the firm has undergone fundamental changes. Today, people work together across multiple locations and national borders. Attorneys, tax advisors, and specialists from various fields share knowledge and responsibility. Different languages, experiences, professions, and personalities shape our daily work. Over the years, a shared identity has emerged from these many individual perspectives.
Our identity has evolved. Our name has remained the same.

Our founder’s name tells the story of where we come from. However, it is difficult for it to reflect the many facets of our community. Everyone who is part of our firm today should be able to identify with its name—regardless of their profession, location, role, or personal history. After all, the firm has long been supported by many shoulders, minds, and hands.

Two years ago, the Nautilus became our symbol. With its individual chambers, it illustrates this evolution. Each chamber has its own space, and yet they all belong to the same structure. New elements are added, while existing ones remain connected. This is how we view our law firm as well: diverse skills and personalities that retain their independence, are interconnected, and together form a vibrant organism.

Now our name, too, reflects this evolution. RIEDIGER. legal | tax is becoming NAUTARIS. legal | tax

NAUTARIS builds on the concept of Nautilus. The new name is not intended to replace anyone or put anyone in the spotlight. Rather, it creates space for the people who make up our firm and for the diverse perspectives that each individual brings to the table. We have deliberately retained the time-tested “legal | tax” branding. Combining law and tax is an integral part of how we work and who we are.

We are leaving a name behind, but not what has been built under it. Experience, relationships, trust, and shared knowledge continue with us. NAUTARIS gives all of this a common name—and space for what is yet to come.
